Rainbow made from dirt

»Legacy« (2005) is a 21-foot-long rainbow made of cast street sweepings that emerges from a planter on MetroTech Commons in Brooklyn. The rainbow’s seven bands range in tone from brown to gray, and are flecked with color. They are cast from actual debris collected on seven consecutive days by the city’s street sweeping machines: dirt, grit, gravel, gum wrappers, bottle caps, socks, plastic combs, and whatever other litter the sweeper picked up during the course of a day. There is a small bronze beard that appears to be crawling out of the hole in the ground where the rainbow emerges. By Corin Hewitt. (via VVORK)

Google Carpet

Because Google did not want to put the new location in their maps, which the Royal College of Art occupied because of their 150th anniversary, student Robert Sollis put a real mark on the ground, which maybe will be seen during the next satellite scan.

selfportraitasafont.png

The above is my name written in “Self portrait as a font”. Paul Chan designed fonts that express more than simple letters and maybe more than you want them to say.

“What is it like to write like me? You don’t even know me. Lowercase letters are phrases I think I say in conversations. Uppercase letters are parenthetical comments based on what I think I say in conversations and common mistakes I make when writing. Numbers are names of friends, family, and former lovers. Punctuations are incidental words I use to feign interest, confusion, or indifference.”

Photobooth shows personality

The booth is presented in semi-public spaces as a typical photobooth holding no denotation of it’s unique qualities. Users enter the booth, pose for 2 shots & exit as usual. During the developing process, the photos are “analyzed” & customized with forecasts consisting of patterns, symbols & messages.
